Craig returned from his last Florida trip with a frozen meatloaf from Mom Finkel :-) I defrosted the meatloaf in the fridge the day before and went to the store to pick up some jarred marinara and shredded mozzarella. That was my only contribution. After that, I was kicked out of the kitchen so Craig could do his thing!!! (According to some, I can be a bit overbearing in the kitchen). Craig ordered some garlic rolls from Mickey's Deli down the street and put the meatloaf in the oven for about an hour. He sliced the meatloaf lengthwise into four pieces. He sprinkled some marinara and cheese into the sliced roll and then filled it with the meatloaf. He followed that with more marinara and cheese. Then back into the oven for about 10 minutes until they are warm and crispy. YUM!
Making meatloaf sandwiches with Mom Finkel's meatloaf is Craig's thing? I guess all the years that Jon put into perfecting the sandwich - from buying the mozzarella fresh from Mickey's, to using Mickey's garlic rolls instead of Ralph's bread, to using Mickey's marinara sauce instead of Ragu... I guess none of those contributions mattered and it all falls under the umbrella of "Craig's thing" now...
ReplyDeleteWhen Steph asked me if I've ever tried this meatloaf sandwich, it was as if one Raffel Brother's wife asked the other Raffel Brother if he's ever tried the Roast Beef at Arby's. Bagel, you know what I'm talking about...
I hope you enjoyed them. They looked terrific.
We enjoyed them immensely. Next time you're out visiting, I'll make you one of my delicious sandwiches. And if you bring a meatloaf all the way across the country, I'm sure you'll get some credit.
